An international jury of expert analysts awards the FAFI E-golden balls for each game position. In 2014, the FAFI TOP 30 players will be assessed at every game and will be monthly ranked.

Why awarding the FAFI E-golden balls ?

There is no question of competing with the FIFA Golden Ball which is the supreme title, recognized by the entire football community. Indeed, the FIFA Golden Ball is awarded by the most famous football professionals (captains and coaches of the top clubs and most experienced journalists).  








On its side, the FAFI golden balls are awarded for each position by a jury of FAFI expert analysts on the basis of a precise and rigorous collaborative approach that complements the title given by FIFA.

When will the E-golden balls be launched ?


Testing of E-golden balls in late 2013
The election system of E-Golden Balls will be tested over the last quarter 2013  by consulting FAFI analysts. The objective is to create a panel of expert Analysts between the 1st and 30th of October 2013 and begin assessments on November 1st, 2013.

Implementation of E-golden balls in 2014
The election system of E-golden balls will be implemented in January 2014. The FAFI Top 30 players will be assessed during each match by the jury of expert analysts. An intermediate classification for each position will be released each month.

What is the difference with the FIFA Golden Ball?


The FAFI E-golden balls differs from the FIFA Golden Ball mainly on the four following points.

1. Election of three best players for each position

• The FIFA Golden ball designates the best player of the year. However, this award is usually given to an offensive player.
• The FAFI E- Golden balls designate the top three players for each position. No position is forgotten.

2. Monthly rankings

• The FIFA Golden Ball is awarded once a year with the release a month before of a list of the top 30 players.
• For the FAFI E-golden balls, the FAFI Top 30 players are continuously assessed during each  game and an intermediate ranking is released on a monthly basis.

3. Transparent evaluation method

• The FIFA Golden ball is the result of a vote. Football professionals give their expert opinion without expliciting their choice.
• The FAFI expert analysts evaluate the players following a detailed assessment method that has been described in detail. Thus, the result of the assessment is transparent and published on the FAFI website.

4. Jury of Expert analysts

• The FIFA Golden Ball is designated by professionals.
• The E-golden balls are awarded by a jury of expert analysts who are selected by the FAFI analysts.
